I had high expectations after loving her last book (Arrogant Devil), and seeing how many people said this was their favorite book of hers. This was good, but definitely not my favorite. I’m giving this 3 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion. One good thing about this book was that it made me laugh quite a bit. Major points for that! But I think Rachel said this was her longest book yet, and honestly it felt too long to me. Maybe if it was shorter (i.e. the romance happened faster), I would have liked it a little more. My favorite character in the book was Josie. I adored her! I also liked Bailey and Dr. (Matt) Russell, but I didn’t love them like I’ve loved previous characters from this author. This was such a slow burn book, and then it turned into instalove. Matt was swoony, but mostly just for the second half of the book; I didn’t particularly like him that much in the beginning. Bailey was entertaining, and I think she’d be a good friend in real life. On top of that, she was a fantastic sister. I can’t say enough good things about what she did, and still does, for Josie in the book!I finished this in 3 days (reading over half of it in 1 day), so obviously I liked it overall. The epilogue was super cute, and I wish we saw more of that timeline when things were finally in place. This just wasn’t what I was expecting; I thought this would be more of a steamy romance like Grey’s Anatomy, which was mentioned several times. There were a couple minor things that were left unresolved in my mind even after finishing the book: a proposal Matt was working on that we never saw come to fruition, and Dr. Lopez practically disappeared off the face of the Earth after the first couple chapters only to reappear for like two pages for not that great of a reason (I expected more to come from that part). This didn’t feel like Rachel’s usual book, and maybe that’s why I didn’t love it as much as her other ones. Regardless, it was an enjoyable read overall.

Hotshot Doc is one of my favorite books of 2018 and is officially my favorite R.S Grey novel. It was witty, exciting, funny and romantic. The slow burn romance between Matt and Bailey gave me butterflies. Their relationship felt authentic and genuine and I love that R.S Grey never rushed anything. It is the type of relationship that kept me on edge, making me never want to put the book down. And Bailey was an amazing female lead. She was strong, smart and independent. She is the kind of woman that I strive to be. And she was perfect for Dr. Russell, who even with his stubborn nature has become one of my top book boyfriends of all time.So if you're looking for an amazing book, you've found it. You'll get all the feels with this one. There were moments that I laughed out loud and moments where I wanted to cry. It was so well done that I can't help but imagine how perfect this book would be as a movie.Netflix, where you at?

I have been unlucky with her books this year. I'm not that into the rom-com genre and she is famous for it. So color me surprised when I picked up HOTSHOT DOC and really enjoyed it.But it shouldn't come as a surprise, because HOTSHOT DOC wasn't a real rom-com. It had some witty dialogues and Bailey and her sister's back and forth was certainly hilarious, but the comedic aspect didn't take over. Which made all the difference to me. And boy am I glad, because I love the office/boss trope and HOTSHOT DOC fit that bill splendidly. So, for everyone who loves a great romance, some banter, but most of all a love story about a couple that doesn't fall in love IMMEDIATELY. Instead they worked their way to getting to know each other, and tried to figure each other out before jumping into bed. This book is for all of you!!I really enjoyed Dr Russell's journey. Matt, was pretty much married to his job, and he didn't just change overnight, which I would have hated. Instead his and Bailey's work relationship slowly over time turned into more. And seeing him make those important steps was very endearing.Bailey and her sister dominated some of my most favorite scenes. That teenage girl was the HOOT!!! The back and forth had me smiling like crazy, and I wasn't the only one who enjoyed it - Matt had a blast too!!Of course the book had to have some kind of drama/conflict at the end, but I was pleasantly surprised by how the author decided to resolve it.

RS Grey can do no wrong! Matt and Bailey were amazing. I absolutely loved learning about them separately and the lives they lived. Then them coming together as a unit.Bailey was a firecracker. She had so many responsibilities, yet did it all with a smile on her face. Daring someone to question or contradict her. She is someone I aspire to be.Matt has spent years doing all he could to help others and children. He worked hard to be the best surgeon he could be and take the cases nobody else would take. He’s only rude because he expects perfection.Together, Matt and Bailey were a team. Working seamlessly in both the OR and as a couple. They thought about what the other was saying and respected each other. They always worked to make themselves and each other better. And, oh how I wish I could be a fly on the wall while Josie grow up.I really can’t recommend this book (or any of her books really) enough. She doesn’t just write romcoms, she writes stories that take you to another world and lets you hang out there for a while. Her characters feel like friends, if not family, but the end of every book.
