"The Best of A.W. Tozer, Book 2" is another great compilation of AW Tozer's writings from his many powerful titles. This edition is around 290 pages and addresses such points as:1. The Holy Spirit's power comes from above instead of from within.2. Our goal is to be holy instead of happy.3. The Holy Spirit will work mightily in our life if we really want Him to.4. 3 reasons why there is wasted activity in the church.5. God can be known intimately - the choice is ours.6. When we seek to exalt God above all, we will fall out of favor with the world.7. God desires our sincerity, transparency, humility, and love.8. Contrast between heaven and hell.9. The true Christian will often be lonely in the world.10. True faith is accompanied by expectation of what God promised and can do.While I really liked the title, I liked Book 1 better, mainly because of the topics addressed. This more of a preference instead of a criticism. Still, a great title and I will often use for future reference.Recommended.
AW Tozer is a man of God who was self-taught (many times on his knees before the open Bible) and not seminary trained, because he could not afford to go to seminary. But his learning was through the Spirit of God and his diligence. And this book, "Best of AW Tozer (vol.1)" IS indeed great summary of Tozer's spirituality (Thanks to Warren Wiersbe who compiled and selected these chapters from Tozer's numerous books). In this book, Tozer teaches us in sum:1. What is essential Chrisitan life? He talks of believers' NEED for genuine love for Christ and His Return. For example Tozer accurately points out, "Another reason for the absence of real yearning for Christ' return is that Christians are so comfortable in this world that they have little desire to leave it... in these times of religion has become jolly good fun right here in this present world, and what's the hurry about heaven anyway?" (p.57). Such words challenge our heart of hearts. And there are more words like this in this book.2. What is proper knowledge of God? He does not mean merely doctrinal or theological side of it (though he emphasizes it elsewhere in the book), but also experiential walk with God and seeking Him. He said, "[holy men and women] want to taste, to touch with their hearts, to see with their inner eyes the wonder that is God... The evil habit of seeking 'God-and' effectively prevents us from finding God in full revelation. In the '-and' lies our great woe. If we omit the '-and,' we shall soon find God" (pp. 17,18). He is right. And there are more helpful, challenging, and edifying articles in the book.Those who read this book will not be disappointed, because Tozer redirects believer's focus onto God and God alone.
Any of Tozer's writings are well written, spiritually deep and moving, and Warren Wiersbe's choice of excerpts from this spiritual giant are well worth reading and thoughfully dwelling upon. Wiersbe, from his long experience as a pastor/scholar knows how to choose and emphasize that which is most helpful and convincing. No author has influenced my personal spiritual growth as profoundly as Tozer, and Weirsbe knows how to choose and edit with wisdom and insight.

Then you will love me for telling you about him.Most importantly, you will love Jesus more than you thought possible. You will want to love Him.I have purchased this book several times for gifts.You will read it and re-read it. It has several chapters, all no more than two or three pages. The best devotional book ever, in my opinion.Give it a go.
