Dr. Allen Hynek and his association with Project Blue Book and the eventual creation of CUFOS (Center for UFO Studies) by Dr. Hynek in 1973. This book is hard to put down, Im not far through as of yet but what I read is astonishing, she has all the facts and she is very credible. This book is a must for the UFO circle, please get a copy and sit back and be ready to learn about our secret society

As the title and sub-title suggest, this is a very comprehensive book of 299 pages looking at the history of events that took place, mostly after the Roswell UFO crash. There may not have seemed to be much going on after the Roswell UFO crash was dismissed as a “Weather Balloon” but the authoress reveals that that was far from the actual fact. The corridors of power were buzzing like an overturned bee hive.Much like a swan it may have seemed serene on the surface, but hidden from view it was a great turmoil of denials cover ups and obfuscation. The CIA and US Airforce went to extreme lengths to try and remove the events from the public eye.Irena M Scott PhD is a scientist who was not only involved in many of the outcomings of the Roswell UFO crash, but knew or met many of the people who were involved in the aftermath. In particular Dr J Allen Hynek whom she investigates thoroughly. She has published much on the subject and is well known for her thoroughness and accuracy.She also discusses Nitinol, the “Memory Metal” that was apparently found at the Roswell UFO crash site and some of the alloys that have been developed from it since.This book will open your eyes to those events surrounding the Roswell event. It is a book that everyone who studies UFO events must read. It is an easy read, well written and does not presume that you need to be a scientist to understand it.She has visited Wright-Patterson Air Force Base several times and has taken pictures of the various well known buildings there. Many of them part of the Roswell folklore. These photographs are reproduced in the book and she uses them to help dispell many of the myths that have sprung up around them and even under them!She lifts the lid on many of the cover-ups that surrounded the crash and its aftermath and dispassionately disects much of the false history that has attached itself to the event.Her inside information about the aftermath is rivetting and comprehensive. A very good read and a book that all UFO enthusiasts need to read and one that will be read time and time again a reference to events that need to be dragged into the light of day and out of the hands of those who want to cover it all up and keep the public in the dark.I kept thinking as I read it, how has she escaped the attentions of the CIA for so long?Well done Irena!Reviewed by George Bishop.

When I heard about this book on the SpiceIslander TalkShop forum, I purchased it and read through it in one night. While I don't agree with some of Layne's conclusions (like whether or not the US intervention was necessary), I found it a fascinating read and I learned a few things I didn't know before about the 1979 Grenada Revolution.

I honestly everyone in Grenada and Grenadians abroad to read this book. Especially our youths!!

Joseph Ewart Layne, thoughts and reflections about the making of the Grenadian Revolution is very timely; although coming 30 years from the time of the actual event. It is great having someone from the inside giving his perspective on what happen. I was a student at the university of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica at the time, and was profoundly impacted by the events in Grenada. Joseph Laynes insights provides a great context for understanding and appreciating the history of the first revolution in the English speaking caribbean.Kamau Williams

This story on the making of the revolution is authentic and comprenhensive, and this book have sealed an ephisode in Grenada's history.

Good reading

Of local interest only but fills a historical gap.

Visited Grenada and wanted a book more about the US involvement in this revolution. This book was about the build up to revolutionand take over but did not go into why the US came in or why to revolutionist were turned on and sent to prison. I still don't have a clear picture of what happened and why.

This book is a modest length and excellent first stepping stone for anyone looking to begin thinking about contracts, relationships, submissions, and more in the theater industry. Other reviewers commented that this book was lacking in detail about contracts, but the entire book was a succinct broad stroke to the whole industry. Just get a precise book on theater contracts. The empty star is for the he/she/xe/Cthulhu pronoun egalitarianism.

It was exactly what I needed as a writer to get my writings out there. It explains all sorts of details. Extremely valuable.

I am thankful for The Stage Writer's Handbook. It provides me with information to help make me more savvy when It comes to negotiating with business prospects. Even if some of the information contained in this book is a bit dated, it still provides a starting point for me to look further for more current information on a particular matter.

I'd give it 5 stars, but the datedness of it knocks it down one. Great information, but costs for buying rights, etc are really out of date and the use of e-mail and the Internet for correspondence and research are not addressed.

...This is not a book about playwriting, nor is it that much help to a playwright who is trying to get his/her work noticed. Yes, there is a section about marketing and promotion, but the writer here is a lawyer and this book is strongest when it deals directly with the many legal quandries a playwright can get into. I have already consulted it numerous times in regards to copyright issues and what were my rights going into a production. That said, I do find it curious that, while she has a large section dealing with various legal issues between a director and a playwright, she has left out entirely any discussion of problems a playwright may have with Actors Equity. How could, for example, future productions be encumbered if you allow an Equity production to go forward? That question wasn't answered, but many others were and for that I find this book to be invaluable.

I recommend Dana's book often to new writers who want an overview of things like public domain and copyright. Even if someone expects to speak to a lawyer about a specific problem, this book can provide answers to general issues.Bill

Outstanding book, helped me negotiate a favorable contract for my first regional production, prevented me from accepting another offer that was VERY tempting, but according to Dana, just as unacceptable as my instincts told me, and helped me know just what to look for and ask when I secured representation. Incredible help for someone like myself who had absolutely no experience with the "biz" end of things

Dana Singer's "Stage Writer's Handbook" is probably the most helpful overall resource I have purchased as a playwright. "The Dramatists Sourcebook" and Dramatists Guild publications are, of course, indispensable, but Singer's book helped me understand the business and legal side of pursuing a career in playwriting.The book is well-written and very accessible to those less versed in legal jargon. I can't recommend this book enough!!
