Great for beginners. I looked at several books and this was the one I bought because had all the basic info for someone who knows nothing without being too technical. Feel I can be successful from the start with this to guide me!

I bought this in soft cover book form back in 2011 and have enjoyed it greatly! Haven't tried the E book version. The reason I am writing this review now is that I noted a very bad review and thought I might take a moment to balance the scale some. That review said if you want to make crappy cheap jewelry for yourself or a gift that someone would just throw in the trash then this is the book for you because it only shows you how to make crappy cheap looking jewelry. Well, I don't have the latest version so I can't say what jewelry projects are in the newest version but if they are like mine, they are VERY basic. IF you have NO creativity and want a book that has step by step instructions on beautiful jewelry, full of designs with lists of everything you need....then NO this book isn't for you. BUT if you want to make and design your own jewelry but just don't know how to do it or the names and uses of the tools and materials.....then YES, you have found the RIGHT book! Each project may not be something you like BUT it is meant to teach you a certain set of skills using tools and materials that once mastered, you can THEN use those skills to design and make your own beautiful jewelry! The book is very easy to use and the photos are great. It has a wide variety of styles and materials to learn about. I still keep mine handy even after seven years, I will use it to refresh my memory if I haven't worked with certain tools or materials in awhile. Or if I forget the proper name of something. This is a great book for all ages, please give it a chance and enjoy creating your own masterpiece!Again, I can't comment on the E book version as I haven't tried it.

The book I received doesn't match the cover image or ISBN number, but it's a fantastic book nonetheless. It's one of the most comprehensive books I've ever seen on jewelry making. The only thing I felt was missing was a quick how-to on how to make knotted sliding closures on cord jewelry.This was the book I received even though I ordered the one shown on this page: [(Teach Yourself Visually Jewelry Making and Beading )] [Author: Chris Franchetti Michaels] [Feb-2008] Maybe it's the same book with an updated cover and new ISBN.

If you want to get into beading & jewelry-making, Chris Franchetti Michaels's Teach Yourself VISUALLY Jewelry Making & Beading is a fantastic place to start. It's a thick book loaded with photographs, and it tackles a comprehensive spread of topics.Thorough charts detail everything from the common lengths for various styles and sizes of necklaces (both men's and women's), bracelets, and anklets to common finishing methods used for different stringing materials. Photos clearly display techniques for knotting strings, creating eyepins and headpins (not to mention clasps), and making your own Byzantine chain from jump rings. Wire gauge is demonstrated visually, with an image of each gauge's thickness, and with examples of what each gauge is used for.The book goes through bead-stringing techniques; wire-work; bead-weaving (by hand and on a loom) and even macrame. If you truly want to delve into beaded jewelry as more than just a way to make a few pieces for yourself, then I highly recommend grabbing a copy of Michaels's book. It's extremely valuable and highly instructional. The use of brief, clear instructions combined with a ton of tables and photographs make it a quick read that teaches you an incredible amount of material. It's also a fantastic quick-reference book for use while making your creations.

Really helped me grasp the basics. I love the many photos that clearly demonstrate techniques. Great beginners guide to jewelry making!

Overall this book is a great start at making jewelry. It has alot of new techniques in it that a beginner may not be familiar with. It also has decent projects and I have done a few of them as listed in the book. Friends, both male and female, liked some of the stuff that was made and wanted some of their own. It is a great jump start for anyone wanting to get into making jewelry but it is by no means the only book you will need. It gives an overview of different techniques and shows one or two ways to use that technique. In the end of the book is a list of other resources that you can look up if you find a concept more to your taste and this allows you to explore further on.

I have bought so many books trying to learn various arts & crafts methods only to be unable to figure it out from the text and photos of end products. Finally, I found the "Teach Yourself Visually" series! At last I can actually learn and understand the process, not just see the end product! I will continue to buy more from the series! They are so much more logically and laid out and the step by step pictorials are wonderful!

This is a great book for the beginner. There is a large amount of information about everything having to do with making jewelry. I loved having the information about general techniques, wire sizing, and different types of findings. This was my go to book when I began making jewelry for myself and others. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to begin making jewelry.

Everything in this book looks like crap. If you want to make embarrassing looking jewelry for yourself or something that, as a gift, will get thrown in the garbage, this is your book. Not as described. Don't waste your money.

Chuck Dixon wrote really good stories in this volume and the art is just as good. If your a fan you will not be disappointed.

The Birds of Prey are judo expert Black Canary and wheelchair-bound computer wizard Oracle (the former Batgirl Barbara Gordon). The two have been around for some time, (Black Canary since the 40s, Batgirl/Oracle since the 60s) but it was writer Chuck Dixon how had the idea of teaming them up as a high-tech team in crime and espionage stories. It's a formula that's paid off, over 10 years later the Birds are still going strong.This book collects some of their earliest adventures together from the mid to late 90s. First was have two one shot stories that tested the water for a series. In them Black Canary takes on her ex-husband and the Russian mob and Batgirl is mysteriously back in action. Then we get the first 6 issues of the ongoing series where the Birds first face an international kidnapping ring and then take on assassins, cultists and dinosaurs for a downed satellite.The stories by Chuck Dixon are decent crime and espionage stories the art, mainly by Greg Land (before he became a full-time tracer) is pretty good. But really that's about all I can say for them.The plots are good enough at first glance but don't make much sense if you think about them. For example in the last story arc the cult leader Kobra hires a group of assassins to find a missing satellite saying that his forces cannot operate freely in the US. But later in the book he turns up in Minnesota lake, with a full force and a submarine. How did he get there? How did he get a full sized submarine into an inland lake? The art is good, but a bit on the cheesecake side.It was a fun read but not really something to seek out or keep.

This book opens with two one shot stories. "Wolves" and "Batgirl" then collects the start of the monthly with Birds of Prey 1-6.That's a lot of pages beautifully drawn by Greg Land and inked by Dick Giordano, and of course written by Chuck Dixon. Although the first two stories are one shots the whole volume flows together and adventures start and end with overlying plot elements. A lot of cool imaginative stuff here.In particular I like the strong leading women who don't need men while in the field but have no problem talking boy trouble over a dish of ice cream. Cool hero stuff but no lectures to be endured or bones to be picked.Great superhero story telling.

If you're a fan of the Black Canary or Barbara Gordon, then this is the book to check out. See how the Birds of Prey comic book(as of 2006, it's still going strong) began!These early BOP adventures were written by Chuck Dixon.NOTE:Also contains two Birds of Prey one-shots(stand alone comic books), called Birds of Prey: Wolves & Birds of Prey: Batgirl.

The stories range from above average to silly with average to good artwork. It's early in the relationship between Oracle and Black Canary.

This is the beginnings of the fine Birds of Prey series. Barbara Gordonis Oracle, and confined to a wheelchair. She becomes partners withBlack Canary, who provides the legwork for some operations to capturecriminals, disrupt terrorists, retrieve beasties or whatever else thecomputer genius Gordon decides needs to be done.

I take issue with the reviews describing Oracle as "confined" or "bound" in her wheel chair when clearly from how she gets around and even fights,she is far from confined or bound,I find these words rather in a negative connotation,yes,she is in a wheel chair but by no means is she limited by it.

I'm a software engineer currently working for a big tech company. This is hands down the book you need to grok and master machine learning concepts. As a programmer, I have felt capable of utilizing the machine learning tools available, but have felt distant from understanding the many cited academic papers. I can confidently say, just a few chapters into this book, that this is the book I was missing!I have followed Andriy on LinkedIn for a long time now, and always appreciated his posts. When I saw he was publishing a book, I didn't think twice and ordered it. As expected, the book is clear, concise and does a thorough job explaining basic mathematical concepts, machine learning principles, and the most important fundamentals to understand the field.One note: I can tell this book will be useful for a long time. I have many tech related books that become obsolete a few years or even months after they are published. Andriy's approach delves into the core principles, while explaining how to understand further developments into the field. This is something I was missing and truly appreciate.I have a quirk of reading physical books alongside a text-to-speech interface on a digital device. Especially with text books, this is helpful, but not all textbooks are capable of being processed this way. Fortunately, when you purchase the physical book, Andriy sends you the digital edition as well. As a result, I have been able to breeze through the text in my ideal learning state.For those who have been working around the academic machine learning world, but are influenced by it - buy this book! For those who are familiar with machine learning concepts and have gone through all the blog posts and MOOCs you could get your hands on - buy this book!

The "Hundred-Page Machine Learning Book" by Andriy Burkov, is in my opinion the best book for those working with machine learning libraries but don't have an understanding of the underlying science behind the libraries. I am a machine learning scientist/ engineer and often get asked what is the difference between what I do and what someone that just applies libraries are. This book explains it in a very down to earth way. Yes in this book there is some math used, nothing too excessive and should be easy for anyone with some mathematical experience to grasp.The best part of the book I have to say is that it gives the introduction that I think so many need in understanding that a simple ML library and a coder are not going to present the answers to the questions being asked. If there is a simple question with a clean dataset, then yes someone with some tech knowledge will be able to grab a ML library and come to a conclusion. For a more in-depth question with a messy dataset or when the basic libraries don't cover the problem someone with more in-depth knowledge of the science is needed. Thank you Andriy Burkov for writing this amazing book.

This is a superbly written book, and a must have for anyone interested in machine learning. In short, this is my review.But let me point a few details. This book, unlike Chollet Deep Learning with Python, or Gulli's Keras or Tensorflow book has not placed emphasis on providing code, but on explaining concepts, and this makes it complementary to those books. But this does not mean that this book is useless for those interested in just coding models--quite the opposite--it delivers exactly what it promises in the title, a great introduction to machine learning, and I think that this makes it the go-to handbook for managers, or software developers looking for a single volume on machine learning. In essence, anyone not interested in having code delivered: either because she is a manager and will not code, or because she is a developer and does not need sample code. For those groups, this is the best book on the market.For the student or researcher, this book is well worth the money, but it is not everything you might need (although you will get a lot, especially considering the length of Andry's book). It is however a great textbook for a general machine learning course (covering not just deep learning as the most popular paradigm right now), and it would be great to have around 10 Jupyter notebooks with code to supplement it.One minor point, but this is just me, I would have loved to see symbolic machine learning (version spaces, inverse resolution) touched upon, but in 100 pages you simply cannot cover everything.

A great book for breaking into machine learning or just looking up material. Burkov seems to be an experienced ML-engineer, which allows him to recommend ways of approaching certain problems. He also explains typical ways of solving known problems, like transfer learning, handling imbalanced datasets, and combining models. With the addition of some introduction to newer and less known concepts, this book kicks you in the right direction.If you're unsure whether to read this book; it's only a hundred pages - read it.

This book achieves what no other book does on this topic - concise and lucid explanations of an impressively broad set of machine learning topics in less than 150 pages. This book is an absolute must-have for anyone interested in machine learning, from the novice to expert. As a practicing machine learning engineer, I have read many different books on the topic and this is by far the most valuable. You will not be disappointed!

This is a nicely done haggadah. It does a good job of letting you know when to pick up the wine glass and when to put it down without drinking, all those little things that go along with the seder. The extra readings are nice too.I just wish there was a way Orthodox books could be more inclusive. i understand that they can't change Torah. But the four sons could be the four children. The matriarchs could be added to the text in places. But, this is an ArtScroll publication and, like all of their publications, is authoritative, complete, and very well done.

I thought the Hagadah was OK, but not up to my expectations. No songs, none of the good old days we were used to in our old books. We had a good sedar, in spite of my criticism, and the participants liked it better than I did.
